Success Story - ETX® 802 Computer-on-Module

Military Company Chooses Ampro's ETX 802® for Counter-Sniper Application

Military - ETX Success Story

On the battlefield, snipers pose a serious threat to our armed forces because of their deadly precision, invisibility and elusiveness. To address this threat, the customer developed a system that has the ability to accurately detect small arms fire and identify the shooter’s position in under one second. The end result is a state-of-the-art acoustic shooter detection system that uses a mast-mounted microphone array, most commonly mounted on the top of a HUMVEE, to detect the passing of a supersonic round. Once the round passes the array, the system will indicate the shooter’s relative direction, distance and elevation via visual display and an audible announcement.

Whether on the move or stationary, the system is now deployed by the US Military and has experienced widespread success in the urban terrain of Iraq and mountainous landscape of Afghanistan.
